“I think that there is a satisfaction in being able to create something beautiful out of something awful and dark. I wouldn’t call my paintings ugly, I would say that they are hard to observe.”
Does your work have a message?
It does not have a message in a political sense, I would say that my paintings are representations of moods and memories or visions, that my mind keeps showing me. That is my way of coping with these emotions, these memories, these visions, by translating them into a visual form.
Would you say that you were commenting on current social issues?
Not at all. When I paint I don’t think about what should I put to light, I think about what has been keeping me stuck. I have a very complicated mind, and representing the things that I go through especially depression, is essential to me.
